Blessed is our God, always now and ever and unto ages of ages! Amen.
Glory to you, our God, glory to you.
O heavenly King, Comforter, the Spirit of truth, everywhere present and filling all things; Treasury of good things and Giver of life: Come and abide in us and cleanse us from every impurity, and save our souls, O good one.
(From Easter to Pentecost, say rather “Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life!” 3x)
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal: have mercy on us. (3x)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: both now and for ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
O, Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse us from our sins. Master, pardon our transgressions. Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities for your Name’s sake.
Lord, have mercy. (3x)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: both now and for ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Our Father, in heaven, hallowed be your Name; your kingdom come; your will be done on earth, as in heaven. Give us this day the bread of Life; and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us; save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, are yours: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Lord, have mercy. (12x)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: both now and for ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Come, let us worship God, our King, and bow down before him.
Come, let us worship Christ God, our King, and bow down before him.
Come, let us worship Christ, our King and our God, and bow down before him.
Have mercy on me, O God, in your kindness; in your great tenderness, wipe out my sin. Over and over again, cleanse me of all malice; from my fault purify me. For my sin is only too clear to me; my sin is ever before me. Against you, you alone, have I sinned; what is evil in your eyes, this I have done. You are just when you sentence, without reproach when you judge. For in guilt itself was I born; a sinner my mother conceived. But you love truth at the heart of my being; teach me wisdom deep within me. Purify me: I shall be cleaner than spring water; wash me: I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear the sound of joy and feasting; let them dance, these bones you have crushed. Turn your face away from my sins; cleanse me of all malice. O God, create in me a pure heart, in my belly, a new and constant spirit. Do not banish me from your presence; do not deprive me of your holy spirit. Give me back the joy of your help; insure within me a spirit of fervor, that I may teach sinners your ways, that the misguided may return to you. Rescue me from death, O God, my saving God, and my tongue shall ring out your justice! Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall proclaim your praise. For you take no delight in sacrifice; were I to make a burnt offering, you would want no part of it. The best sacrifice, a broken spirit; a heart broken and crushed you have never disdained, O God. In your kindness, be good to Sion: Rebuild Jerusalem within its walls! Then you will delight in just sacrifices — burnt offerings completely consumed! — then will they lay calves upon your altar!
Quick, O God! Rescue me! O Lord, help me! Let shame and disgrace fall on those who hunt down my soul! Make them back off! Make them recoil in confusion, who gloat at my ruin! Make them draw back, covered with shame, who jeer at me. But for all who seek you, joy and gladness! For those who love your help, let them always say: God is great! As for me — poor wretch that I am — O God, hasten to me! O you, my helper, my saviour; O Lord, do not delay!
O Lord, hear my prayer; O God, be true to yourself and listen to my plea for mercy. In your righteousness answer me. Do not call your servant to account, for no one on earth is justified in your sight. O Lord, be generous and grant me life; in your unfailing love rescue my soul from affliction. For the foe hunts after my soul; into the earth he tramples my very life, forcing me into the darkness of those long dead. My spirit faints within me, my heart is numb with despair. My mind goes back to days gone by, dwelling on the memory of all you did, pondering the works of your hands. To you I lift my outstretched hands: Come quick and answer me, O Lord! For my spirit longs for you; like parched earth I thirst for you. Hide not your face from me lest I become like those who go into the pit. Each morning make me understand your loving kindness, for I trust in you. Show me the path to follow, for my heart belongs to you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your gracious spirit lead me into the land of life, for your name’s sake. Save me from my foes, O Lord, for I seek refuge in you. Wipe out my foes; bring destruction on those who oppress me, for I am your servant.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Glory to you, O God! 3x
Glory to God in the heights; on earth peace, and among men love and understanding! We sign to you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, and we give you thanks for your great glory. O Lord, king of heaven, God, the Father almighty O only Son, Lord Jesus Christ; and you, O Holy Spirit. O Lord and God, lamb of God, the Father’s Son: you take away the sin of the world, O you who take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Receive our prayer, O you who sit at the Father’s right, and have mercy on us. For only you are holy, only you are Lord, O Jesus Christ, to the glory of God, the Father. Amen.
Every evening I will bless you; the praise of your name be on my lips forever. You have been our refuge, Lord, from one generation to the next. I cried out: Lord, have mercy on me. Heal my soul, for I have sinned against you. I run to you, Lord; teach me to please you, for you are my God, the source of life and in your light we see light. Pour forth your mercy on those who acknowledge you.
Count us worthy, Lord, of passing this night without sin. Blessed are you, Lord, God of our fathers and mothers: Praised and glorified be your name forever. Amen.
Let your mercy descend upon us, Lord, for we place our hope in you. Blessed are you, Lord: teach me your law.
Blessed are you, Master: make me to understand your commandments.
Blessed are you, Holy One: fill my mind with the wisdom of your decrees.
Despise not the work your hands have done; remember, Lord, your mercy is eternal. And eternally do you deserve all our praise, all our songs of glory, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: now and forever, and unto ages of ages. Amen
We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, born of the Father before all ages: light of light, true God of true God, begotten, not made, of one essence with the Father, through whom all things came into being. For us and for our salvation, he came down from heaven and became incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man: he was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the scriptures; and he ascended into heaven and sits at the right of the Father, and he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead; of his kingdom there shall be no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father, who is worshipped and glorified with the Father and the Son, who spoke through the prophets. We believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We confess one baptism for the remission of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come. Amen.
How truly right it is to honour your good fortune, O Theotokos, for you are the supremely blessed and blameless mother of our God! You are more honourable than the cherubim, beyond compare more glorious than the seraphim! In Virginity you gave birth to God, the word: O you who are truly Theotokos, we extol you!
When the bodiless learned of the secret command, he came in haste to Joseph’s house and said to her who knew not wedlock: He who bowed the heavens by coming down is contained wholly and unchanged in you. Seeing him take the form of a servant in your womb, I stand in awe and cry out to You: Rejoice, O Bride unwedded.
(On the 5th Friday the 1st Stasis is sung here; see pp. 16-19).

Theotokos and Virgin, you are the fortress for virgins and for all who run to you for refuge. 0 immaculate Maiden, for the Creator of heaven and earth prepared you, inhabiting your womb and instructing all to address you thus;
Rejoice, pillar of virginity;
Rejoice, the gate of salvation.
Rejoice, initiator of spiritual renewal;
Rejoice, provider of godly benevolence.
Rejoice, for through you were born again those conceived in shame;
Rejoice, for you have admonished those whose intellects had been captured.
Rejoice, for you abolished him who corrupts reason;
Rejoice, for you have given birth to the saver of purity
Rejoice, bridal chamber of seedless marriage;
Rejoice, you who join the faithful to the Lord.
Rejoice, beautiful nursemaid of virgins;
Rejoice, bridesmaid of souls that are holy.
Rejoice, O Bride unwedded.
Unsuccessful is every hymn that attempts to pay homage to the multitude of Your mercies. For even if we offer You odes in number equal to the sands, 0 holy King, yet we do nothing worthy of what You have given us who cry to You: Alleluia.
Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
We see the holy Virgin, as a light-bearing torch who brings light to those in darkness. For she lit the spiritual light, and thus leads everyone to divine knowledge, enlightening the mind with the light of dawn and is honored by such praises:
Rejoice, ray of the spiritual Sun;
Rejoice, beam of the unsetting luster.
Rejoice, lightning completely illuminating souls;
Rejoice, thunder that stuns the enemies.
Rejoice, for the glowing light you make rise upon the earth;
Rejoice, for you spring forth the flowing river.
Rejoice, you who illustrate the image of the font;
Rejoice, you who wash away the stain of sin.
Rejoice, water washing consciences clean;
Rejoice, cup that mixes great joy.
Rejoice, sweet smelling fragrance of Christ;
Rejoice, life of the mystical feasting.
Rejoice, O Bride unwedded.
Wishing to grant pardon for ancient debts, he who cancels the debts of all people came himself and dwelt among those who were estranged from his divine grace; and tearing apart the record of sin, he hears from everyone: Alleluia.
Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.
Extolling your birth-giving, we all praise you as a living temple, 0 Theotokos. For the Lord whose hand sustains the world, having dwelt in your womb, sanctified and glorified you, and instructed all people to cry to you:
Rejoice, tabernacle of God the Logos;
Rejoice, holy one, holier than the holies.
Rejoice, ark that was gilt by the Spirit;
Rejoice, inexhaustible treasure of life.
Rejoice, precious diadem of godly kings;
Rejoice, honored pride of the pious priests.
Rejoice, the Church’s unshakable tower;
Rejoice, the kingdom’s unassailable fortress.
Rejoice, through whom trophies of victory are raised;
Rejoice, through whom enemies are defeated.
Rejoice, healing of my body;
Rejoice, my soul’s salvation.
Rejoice, O Bride unwedded.
You, all-laudable Mother who gave birth to the Logos, the holiest of all who are holy (3x), while accepting this offering now, deliver everyone from all calamities, and deliver from future punishment those who cry out: Alleluia.
Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia.

O chaste and spotless Lady never touched by blame or corruption or defilement, O bride of the most high himself! Your brought forth the word of God into this world in a marvelous and mysterious way, thus uniting him to us and joining our nature to the divine! You are the only hope of those who have no hope, always ready to come to the aid of every Christian who seeks refuge in you. Though I have often defiled myself with all sorts of impurities – thoughts, words, and deeds – though slothfulness has enslaved me to lust, though I often find myself weighted down by despair and depression, do not despise me. As the mother of God, your heart is filled with love and compassion for all mankind. Therefore, pity me in spite of my sinfulness accept this prayer from these impure lips of mine. With the boldness that only a mother could manifest, implore your son, our Lord and God, to show me his deep and tender mercy. Entreat him not to regard the numberless times I have fallen, but to lead me to true repentance, that, as his friend and follower, I may always be conscious of his precepts and ever ready to observe them. And you, sweet Lady, in your graciousness, stay with me. Take my part at all times. Enable me to repel all temptations, to achieve my eternal salvation. At the moment of my death, embrace and comfort my sorry soul, and drive off the terrifying specters of the evil one. On that awesome day of judgement, save me from everlasting punishment; reveal me as a true heir of that ineffable glory which your Son has promised in his grace and love. To him, to his eternal Father, and to his all-holy, good, and life-giving SPirit be all glory, honor and worship: now and forever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
As we prepare for bed, master, we ask for rest of body and soul, for gentle, peaceful sleep free of all nightmares and temptations, free of all disturbing dreams. Arrest the assaults of the powers of darkness, and calm the interior comotions of mind and body. Fill us with your peace, that we may not be overcome by the restless fantasies of our imagination. Makr our minds aware and alert, quick to discern right and wrong, ever ready and able to foster thoughts conducive to spiritual living. When the time for prayer comes, raise us from bed, and inspire us with strength and determination. The Father is my hope; the Son is my refuge; the Holy Spirit is my protector: All-holy Trinity, glory to you!
I place all my trust in you, O mother of God; place the veil of your motherly protection over me, your humble and unworthy servant.
In you, O full of grace, all creation rejoices: The hierarchies of angels and all the generations of humankind. O hallowed temple and immaterial paradise, O glory of virgin souls. From you our eternal God took flesh and became a child, and, by making your womb his throne, he made you more spacious than all the heavens. In you, O full of grace, all creation rejoices: Glory to you.
Holy Angel, overseer of my wretched soul and miserable life, do not abandon me a sinner, do not desert me because of my inconstancy; leave no place for the evil demon to obtain dominion over me by gaining control of this mortal body; strengthen my wretched and feeble hand, and guide me into the way of salvation. Yes, Holy Angel of God, guardian and protector of my wretched soul and body, pardon me all the things by which I have distressed you all the days of my life, and whatever sins I have committed to-day; shelter me in the coming night and protect me from every abuse of the adversary, that I may not anger my God by any sin; and intercede for me to the Lord, to strengthen me in his fear, and show me to be a worthy servant of his goodness. Amen.

O Jesus Christ, Our God, through the prayers of our holy fathers and mothers have mercy upon us. Amen.
Let us pray for the peace of the world!
Lord Jesus, be mindful of your holy church throughout the world, for you paid for her with your own most precious blood. Confirm her and strengthen her, and lead everyone to her bosom. Fill her with peace and never let her fail before the powers of darkness.
Be mindful of our fathers, the bishops of the whole world; remember all the clergy, monks and nuns everywhere, and all your people. Be mindful especially of my brothers and sisters here, and of all our relatives and friends, living and departed.
Finally, remember all mankind: The young and the old, the poor and oppressed, the weak and the sick, and all those who carry responsibility of any kind. Remember our superiors and especially my spiritual father. In your love for us, grant us wisdom and understanding and all the strength we need to live in a way that pleases you.
The beauty of your virginity and the brilliance of your purity filled Gabriel with amazement, and so he exclaimed to you, O Theotokos: How can I praise you worthily? How can I address you properly? Wonder and amazement leave me speechless. THerefore, let me simply greet you as I was directed: Hail to you, O full o grace divine.
Through the prayers of our holy fathers and mothers, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, have mercy on us. Amen.
